Fields that use global storage possess three unique and useful characteristics: they share one value across all records in their table; they are accessible from any table context, even if there is no relationship connecting the two tables; and in hosted databases, the values entered into Global fields are session-specific, that is, stored specifically for that user in that database for the duration of that session.
