so waaay back in the 1800s when the idea of a techno reactor was first conceived, even then they realised there would be stuff you didn't want... bum notes, missed drops, whatever. Well over time that stuff clogs up your reactor and you definitely don't want that because then you'd potentially get contamination and in extreme cases overload and meltdown. Not great! so right from the first reactor design they have always included a self-cleaning cycle, to keep all the note and coolant pathways clean and free from contamination. Generally this maintenance proecdure is performed on reactors annually and whilst rarely observed I found it quite an interesting event. It's no surprise that a machine of that scale would need something like this, or that it would sound the way it sounds, but somehow it'still captivating, especially knowing that performing this procedure hopefully avoids any future quality control issues or even (in the worst case) a full meltdown.
