05 Kitty couch tutorials | Back rest

In this tutorial we will be working on the back rest part of the kitty couch (the second piece of the project). We will also be crocheting around for this piece, but instead of connecting our rounds together and then chaining one (like rows), we are going to continue around seamlessly. Using G hook: Rnd 1: Chain 67. Single crochet (sc) in 2nd chain from hook, sc across. In last chain, 3 sc. Sc in next stitch. Sc across. In last chain, 3 sc. Rnd 2: In next stitch (st), (sc, half double crochet (hdc), double crochet (dc), skip two sts). Repeat this 20 times so that you have 21 total clusters. (Sc, hdc) into third st from last cluster. *NOTE...IN VIDEO I ACCIDENTALLY DO A DC INSTEAD OF A HDC*** Skip ONE st. 3 hdc (into same st), sc, 3 hdc (into same st). Skip 1 st. (Sc, hdc) skip 2 sts. (sc, hdc, dc, skip 2 sts) all the way across for a total of 21 FULL clusters on that side. In third st from cluster, 3 hdc (into same st), sc, 3 hdc (into same st). Rnd 3: sc all the way around. Rnd 4: (sc, hdc, dc, skip 2) all the way around. *NOTE THAT AFTER YOU FINISH THE (SC, HDC, DC, SKIP 2) ROUNDS, COUNT YOUR CLUSTERS TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE 47. You should have about 2 stitches remaining before you make the first sc of the next round. Rnds 5-30: Repeat rounds 3 and 4. Odd rounds: sc crochet Even rounds: (sc, hdc, dc, skip 2) At the end, it should measure to be about 18.5" long and 8.5" wide. Next, you'll measure and cut your foam to fit. Fold in half and insert into your crocheted piece. Attach to your base.
