Tasks
Classify objects in your environment, e.g. apples and oranges. What are apples and oranges? What is their type (genus), what is their family (kingdom)? Then describe them. What attributes characterize apples and oranges? What attributes do both fruits have in common? In which attributes do they differ? Assign values to the common attributes of apples and oranges. How similar and dissimilar are theses? - This way, contrary to the proverbial caveat, you can not only compare different apples but also apples and oranges. This competence to focus, classify and describe objects - as a prerequisite to discriminate and to relate them to other objects - belongs to the core of scientific observation.
