07/29/2025 Bell Test (Simplex 4100ES)

It's the peak of summer, and it's the peak of our summer testing season! All this past week I've been inspecting schools, which proved to be a more difficult task than it should have been for a few reasons, but I did manage to get one bell test on camera (I tried to get a second, but it didn't work out). This system is a fairly recent install. It's a Simplex 4100ES with voice evacuation featuring addressable speakers, strobes, and speaker/strobes with the "ALERT" lettering. The school has a lot of smoke detector/CO detector combos, but instead of the CO detectors having sounders, they just have a sensing chamber. When CO is detected by the system, the 520Hz Temporal 4 tone is played over the speakers and the strobes flash. This test only shows the fire alarm test, which in this case only plays the slow whoop tone. After the reset you'll notice a trouble on the panel. That was due to the printer being offline, but the trouble cleared once we made it operational again. The other school I had hoped to film had a similar setup except their alarm tone played a message as well (see my 05/21/2025 bell test video for that tone/message sequence) and they have a massive graphic annunciator in the main entrance vestibule. Despite all the high tech, I was a bit surprised that the only voice controls were located at the main panel, which in both schools was no where near the main entrance/office, where you'd think there'd be additional controls (there's just 4603-9101 annunciators at the main entrances). All in all, neat systems, although due to classroom renumbering, numerous description changes are needed for the system in this video, which of course, only Simplex can make happen.
