#151: How to wind a toroid inductor | A quick tutorial
This video shows one method I use to wind toroidal inductors and transformers. The real trick is often how to hold the toroid core while doing the winding of the wire. The plastic toroid fixture shown is available from http://www.qrpme.com. I also give a few details on how to strip the enamel insulation, and then test the inductor when it is complete. There are many, many useful websites that contain toroid data, including composition, type, size, materials, winding factors, calculators, and more. Here is a short list of the useful information you can find with a simple Google search: http://toroids.info http://www.micrometals.com/parts_index.html http://www.qrpme.com/ http://www.electronics-tutorials.com/basics/toroidcharts_mcq.htm http://www.catzco.com/toroids.htm http://www.66pacific.com/calculators/toroid_calc.aspx http://www.hamradioindia.com/kitbuild/Toroid.htm One of my viewers suggested this great little program: http://www.electronicecircuits.com/electronic-software/mini-ring-core-calculator-program
