Today we are going to review “180”, a darts game released in 1986 by Mastertronic, one of the most famous budget game companies of the 1980s. This title was released for several 8-bit computers — ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, Amstrad CPC, and, of course, the version we will look at today: Atari 8-bit.
The objective is to simulate a real darts game, following the professional "501" format. Each player starts with 501 points, and on each turn throws three darts. The number you hit is subtracted from your total, and the first to reach exactly zero points wins the round. But there is a key condition: the last throw must be on a "double," that is, the outer part of the number.The name of the game, 180, refers to the maximum possible score in one turn: three darts in triple 20 (3×20×3 = 180).
