-------------------
In today's study we see King David flee Jerusalem from the threat of his son Absalom. We see Absalom's shrewd politics as he gathers supporters, and we see David flee even though he has the strength of the city and his own mighty men. Why does David give himself over to cursing, mockery and scorn? Because, like the Son of David, he loves his son and does not wish him dead. Thus we see Christ portrayed, who is not willing that any should perish, but desires all to come to repentance.
