ABOUT THIS VIDEO: We've all seen the Interstellar Docking track (proper name - No Time for Caution) used with all sorts of videos online so I thought why not add it to the film that Interstellar owes so much to and drew so much from. It works reasonably well but it also highlights the incredible confidence and cojones Kubrick had to run such long sequences with no soundtrack at all. Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey - is an extraordinary film by an extraordinary filmmaker. Only in watching it do we again, and again, realize just how extraordinary. Not to mention, just how much is owed to Kubrick, and 2001 (amongst his other works) - by filmmakers who followed in his footsteps. Including, but going well beyond, the likes of George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Ridley Scott, James Cameron and of course Christopher Nolan and his film Interstellar - a direct descendent of 2001. With 2001, Kubrick not only paved the way for movies like Star Wars, Close Encounters and Alien - but his work also had a huge influence on them. To fully appreciate just what an achievement/milestone 2001 was, and is, I highly recommend watching Tyler Knudsen's excellent and in-depth 7 part youtube series "How Kubrick Made 2001" (link below) which gives true insight into what made Kubrick "the director's director." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgNyCluIRhA&t=66s
