From cosmetics to soils, the 2:1 phyllosilicates include many useful minerals. Their structures are made of sheets of silica tetrahedra and metal-oxygen octahedra, which can be broken down into the modules used to make other minerals. In this video, we'll look at the 2:1 phyllosilicates and construct their crystal structures using TotBlocks, a series of 3D-printed building blocks.
