3-7 Direct and reverse problems planar datum

When the Earth's surface is considered planar, a simple geometry can be used to perform coordinate determination. When by measuring horizontal distance and azimuth between a known and an unknown points, the planar geometry can be simply applied for determining the coordinates of the unknown point. This process is known as direct problem. Now, consider the case where the coordinates of the points are known on a horizontal plane and the goal is to determine the distance and azimuth between them, this problem is so-called the reverse problem.
