Test run of 6L6 driver. The 6L6's (40 watts) drive the grids of the 304TL's for an expected output of at least 700 watts of high level plate modulation. A test audio output transformer was used to couple the output of the driver to a Fender speaker to check for noise and hum. I think the distortion heard is from the microphone on the camera, as the output really cranks! Tube compliment consists of: 6SJ7 (mic preamp), 6SN7 (phase splitter), 6SN7 (driver) and 6L6 (5881's) driver output tubes. There are two inputs: Mic and Line, coupled by balanced to unbalanced input transformers. All schematics can be found in chapter 9 of the 1950 ARRL handbook. Ah yes, textbook to the letter! Doesn't get any better than that! more to come later as the project progresses! 73's from KB7OCY
