3.1 : Dial, Talk and Hear
Welcome to Week 3 Lecture 1 of the course "Electronic Systems Thinking", taught by Profs. Sankaran Aniruddhan, Boby George, and Janakiraman Viraraghavan. Full Course: https://study.iitm.ac.in/es/course_pages/EE1101.html Video Overview In this lecture, we uncover the fundamental electrical operations behind making a phone call using a traditional landline phone. We dismantle the device to examine key components such as the microphone and the speaker, and explain how they convert sound waves into electrical signals and back into sound. We also look at how dialing numbers generates electrical signals and how the speaker translates current into audible sound. To conclude, we introduce the idea of time varying voltages and their connection to sound signals.
