A recon team from 3rd Recon Battalion was operating in the area around Mai Xa Chan when it came into contact with a superior NVA force. Unable to break contact, Hotel Company of 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines and armor from Alpha Company, 5th Tank Battalion are sent to rescue the recon team.
