4-3: Solve Excel Rounding Errors with the ROUND function.
This lesson begins by demonstrating how Excel can add 1+1 and return 2. It is easy to solve rounding errors (a very common Excel problem). Best-practice is to solve Excel rounding errors using the ROUND function but there's also another solution - one you should never use! This lesson also shows how to use common Excel styles including the comma style, accounting number style (to set a leading $, £ or EUR Symbol) and percentage style. You'll also learn how to use the increase decimal and decrease decimal buttons. I then go on to demonstrate why using "Set Precision as Displayed" to solve the Penny Rounding problem is a really, really bad idea when working with Excel (though this solution is sometimes used by Excel users do not really understand how it works). As with all video lessons from The Smart Method®, there's a sample file download link at the beginning of the video to enable you to work along with the lesson. This video comes from the "Making Your Workbooks Look Professional" session (Session 4 in our YouTube Excel Essential Skills free video training course).
