One of Aristotle's principles concerns was to find a way to stop the democratic revolutions sweeping over Greece. He studied over a 150 constitutions, developed a typology of six categories, and advocated for a mixed constitution that would give power to each principle and class behind that principle. This framework remained the dominant framework for political analysis for some 1500 years.
