The brakes were the next step in making sure our new 1986 Toyota Pickup was ready for regular use. The fluid looked really dark in the reservoir, but it was even worse when we pumped it out. The pads and rotors were still fine, and the brakes worked ok, but the fluid was really bad. The caps were still on the bleed valves and with only 53K miles on the truck, I'm pretty sure this was the original brake fluid from the factory.
We ran a bunch of new fluid through the lines, until we got pretty clear fluid coming out of all 4 corners. We should be good for a while, but a full brake job and new master cylinder are probably coming in the next year or 2.
