The servomotors are iHSV42-40-07-24. I switched the motors to 6400 steps per rev which yields a theoretical resolution of 480 steps/mm in my printer.
You can see artifacts in the surface of a test print that repeat at 90 degree intervals around the cylinder. To me it looks like the resolution is nowhere near 480 steps/mm.
