5 Axis CNC DEEP Clean.

I spent 20+ hours deep cleaning my 23-year-old Okuma MU-400 CNC mill. While the machine is still in great mechanical condition, it has been badly neglected when it came to cleaning, coolant, and lubrication. In this video, I pull back all the covers and clean it top to bottom. I started the process by scraping years of crusty old coolant off the sheet metal I then moved onto cleaning oil and sludge from under the way covers and ball screws and digging caked on DIRT COOLANT out of every bolt head and nook and cranny I finished up re-greasing all axes and ball screws with factory-recommended grease This is routine CNC maintenance that clearly hadn’t been done by previous owners. To make matters worse, the grease lines were clogged, so I had to get creative and build a custom grease tool to finish the job properly. Pro tip: A garden chemical sprayer with a 50/50 degreaser/dawn cleaning solution makes CNC cleaning way easier. Spray, soak, strip the grease, and flush it out through the chip screws — repeat until clean.
