A multirange ohmmeter is a practical resistance-measuring instrument designed to measure a wide range of resistance values, from very small resistances to very large resistances. Unlike ammeters and voltmeters, an ohmmeter contains its own internal power source and measures resistance by passing a controlled current through the component under test.
