7th chords for dummies! Not really. It took me years before I really understood 7th chords: do you know the difference between minor 7 and dominant 7? It's not a difficult concept, but understanding chord construction can help dispel a lot of confusion about why a seventh chord is named the way it is. And like anything to do with music theory, understanding it helps your confidence as a player, which in turn helps your playing.
