Learning Outcome – Interrupts in Embedded Systems
In this lecture, you will learn what interrupts are and why they are essential in embedded systems. We will explain how interrupts allow the processor to respond immediately to time-critical events instead of continuously polling hardware. You will understand the difference between interrupts and normal program execution, identify common interrupt sources, and learn how interrupt service routines (ISRs) work. By the end of this lecture, you should be able to explain when and why interrupts are used, and how they improve efficiency, responsiveness, and real-time performance in embedded applications.
