At a grade level assembly, we celebrated our HMS robotics team, 929V, with a presentation on the screen. Here's what Mr. Putnam said on the mic as the students watched the video. "Boys and girls of HMS - Suspend all you believe in – sit down for this. Ok. You are sitting. from Monkton, Maryland representing Hereford Middle School Baltimore County Public Schools, team 9 2 9 V !!!! 7th graders on the team Camden Leone Charlie Gittings CJ Greszler and Owen Mindel !!! In 2025 this same team went to worlds and crashed the party uninvited. They competed and learned a thing or two but these boys had unfinished business. Fast forward to this season and 929v not only won the Maryland state championship, they led wire to wire/ start to finish! Next week, they head back to the airport Out of the over 8,500 teams in the world this year, 414 middle school teams including our HMS team will be competing in St Louis Missouri next week! 929V will be in an 80 team division with teams from Canada, China, Switzerland, Japan, Ghana, United Kingdom, Colombia, Turkey, (Turkiye), New Zealand, Australia, Czech Republic, Mexico, and many of the US states !!! How did 929V get to Worlds? A lot of time, work, failure, testing, more failure, and… success.
