A compressed earth block (CEB) is a building material made from a mixture of soil, water, and sometimes cement, sand, and aggregate. The mixture is compressed into blocks using mechanical force, and then cured and dried.  (1)How they are made -A mix of soil, water, cement, sand, and aggregate is prepared -The mixture is placed in a mold -The mixture is compressed using a manual or motorized press -The blocks are cured for a period of time (2)What they are used for -CEBs can be used to construct columns, floors, and roofs -They can be solid, hollow, round, or customized (3)Benefits of CEBs -CEBs are a sustainable alternative to burnt clay bricks and cement concrete blocks -They are durable, fireproof, and water resistant -They provide good insulation
