A Tru Riskey Gambit - Episode 2
A Tru Riskey Gambit: Hope, Healing, and Heart This video shares Gambit’s ongoing neurological journey — one filled with uncertainty, determination, and a whole lot of heart. Gambit has been diagnosed with a misalignment of his C2–C3 vertebrae, which is causing compression of his spinal cord. This compression is responsible for the neurological symptoms we’ve seen, including changes in coordination and balance. After extensive veterinary consultation, we made the decision to pursue conservative management rather than surgery. In Gambit’s case, surgical correction is unfortunately not an option. Instead, we are waiting and hoping for a natural fusion of the C2–C3 vertebrae. Natural fusion occurs when the body gradually stabilizes the affected vertebrae on its own by forming bone and fibrous tissue, reducing motion at that joint and limiting further irritation or compression of the spinal cord. While this process takes time and patience, it offers Gambit the best chance at stability without the significant risks that surgery would pose for him. The spinal cord compression has led to measurable neurological changes, but Gambit is still bright, engaged, and full of try. Our focus now is on supporting his neurological health and overall comfort through a carefully managed program that includes: Controlled exercise and strengthening Body awareness and proprioception training Balance and coordination work Nutritional support to aid nerve and muscle health We won’t pretend to know what the future holds for this special colt. Neurological conditions can change, and every day is something we approach with honesty and compassion. What we do know is that Gambit will always be supported, protected, and deeply loved. Our goal is to keep him comfortable, safe, and happy for however long he is here with us. Come along and be part of Gambit’s journey — a story of hope, healing, and heart.
