A4177911 Hunter is a devoted 5-year-old golden male German Shepherd mix whose former owner left him at the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on December 5th claiming he no longer had time for a dog. As far as we can tell, his former owner never took much time for Hunter as Hunter shows obvious signs of neglect, including being underweight at 63 lbs and having some skin alopecia; both of these issues should easily resolve with a proper diet and some general TLC. In spite of not getting the attention he deserves in the past, Hunter is all about love; he wants nothing more than to be near his human, listening to your words and watching your body language for clues about how he can make you happy. Hunter walks nicely on leash, and got along swimmingly with both large and small dogs at our photo shoot. Our senior volunteer, who has likely handled thousands of dogs at the shelter, says Hunter is actually the best dog she has ever met. That’s a major endorsement! Hunter is looking forward to joining a loving forever home where he can be part of daily routines and a cherished family member.
