Complete example on how to set up a Finite Element Analysis model in Abaqus/CAE to run with a User General Section (UGENS). UGENS is similar to UMAT (see my other video). Both allow us to extend the capabilities of Abaqus with material behavior that Abaqus does not know how to handle. Here I use an example of UGENS code, called DDM5, that implements Discrete Damage Mechanics of laminated composite materials. Further, the model and material is similar to an example (9.1) in my Abaqus textbook. Here I explain everything except how to program the UGENS (that's for another video).
