About IMU

Since its founding in 1992, the International Medical University (IMU) has emerged to be Malaysia’s first and most established private medical and health sciences university. Pioneering the unique model of Partner Medical Schools (PMS) programme, a world first, and building a globally recognised curriculum to create better doctors, this vision by our founders has enabled many young Malaysians to pursue their ambitions to become doctors and build a better Malaysia. This model serves as a blueprint for IMU’s outcomes-based education and birth of credit transfer programmes in dentistry, pharmacy, health sciences, chiropractic, Chinese medicine and others with 33 renowned partner universities around the world. At IMU, we believe that if healthcare professionals are well trained in the different aspects of healthcare, they will be better prepared to serve effectively. This aspiration has led us to establish the Academic Health Centre, a journey that began in 2010 with the establishment of our healthcare services of which, the upcoming opening of the IMU Hospital will be the nucleus in this ecosystem. The ultimate destination is to integrate research, education and healthcare under one symbiotic system, starting with the holistic development of our students.
