Abstract Art Creation / Mixed Media / Reflection
In this week’s creative pause, I’m recreating a new piece inspired by a previous ‘play session’ at Moss Room Studios. This video is part tutorial, part reflection, as I talk through the layers, shapes, colours and choices that began to build the artwork. I also share a conversation inspired by my sister’s visit to the Moss Room, where she felt frustrated by not fully understanding why layers are needed in art - something many creative beginners can probably relate to (I know I can)! As I work, I reflect on how mixed media develops slowly, why layers matter and how each stage creates depth, interest and atmosphere. I also talk about my own creative limits, including my wish to become looser and more confident with sketching. This is not about creating perfect art. It’s about learning, noticing experimenting and allowing the process to unfold. So make yourselves a brew, take a little pause and join me in the Moss Room for a quiet creative moment. In this video: Starting new mixed media art works. Using paint, shape and space in a composition. Understanding why layers matter. Creative reflection from Moss Room Studios. Thoughts on confidence, frustration and learning through art. Gentle inspiration for beginners and returning creatives. If you enjoy quiet art videos, mixed media painting, creative process videos, art journaling style reflections and gentle encouragement to make time for creativity, I’d love you to subscribe and keep me company during my weekly creative pauses. #mixedmediaart #creativeprocess #artforbeginners #artlayers #intuativeart
