On Monday, 4/18/, the forecast called for no overdevelopment so I delayed my hike to the north launch at North Boulder. I launched at 2:57PM hoping I would avoid the midday turbulence and have a long, smooth flight. The first minute was in smooth sinking air but as I reached the altitude of 3/4 launch I ran into a strong, turbulent thermal that quickly boosted me to 1,300' above launch! My peak climb rate was +820'/min and sink rate of -960'/min! After 27 minutes of active air, I was ready to land below.
