Add LG Concealed Ducted Mini-Split Unit to ThinQ App
How to add an LG Concealed Ducted mini split unit to the LG ThinQ app. Requires a usb wifi module is already installed on the ducted air handler control board, which can be done by the homeowner. The steps to add this specific unit to the thinQ app were not straightforward and differed from what was in the manual for the simple controller. The trickiest part is the series of buttons to press in order to get the wifi module to broadcast its local wifi network. You have to press “fan speed” for 3 seconds, then repeatedly push “fan speed” to cycle through multiple options until you see “AP” (access point) on the screen. Then double tap the power button. The backlight will turn off, but don’t despair. Then press the power button to turn the simple controller back on. Then hold “fan speed” for 3 seconds again, and tap it repeatedly to get “AP” back on the screen. Now double tap the power button again. The backlight will go off, but this time the AP letters will remain on the screen and start to blink. This means the wifi module is broadcasting its local network, which you then can use to connect your phone running the thinQ app and complete the process.
