https://questionable-engineering.com/ I built a CNC router table based on the AvidCNC frame. Because my spindle is much heavier than their standard spindle, their drag brake wasn’t enough to keep it from falling under its own weight. I added an electrically-released brake to the Z-axis to keep the spindle from falling when e-stopped or powered off. This video chronicles that effort. I got some questions about the crimp tool I was using. It’s from Phoenix Contact, and it’s used for crimping terminal block wire ferrules like this: https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/phoenix-contact/3200904/277-5402-ND/349957. I can't stress enough how much this reduces time and improves results.
