https://www.mr-cfd.com/shop/wind-tunnel-cfd-simulation-compressible-flow/ In this CFD project, a wind tunnel and a specific test body inside it are modeled using ANSYS Fluent to study the drag force acting on the body. The geometry was created in ANSYS Design Modeler® and discretized using ANSYS Meshing®, with an unstructured mesh consisting of 179,542 elements. Wind tunnels are essential aerodynamic testing tools used for analyzing structures such as airfoils, aircraft models, and static bodies under controlled airflow conditions. These experiments help visualize flow behavior, aerodynamic forces, and pressure distribution. In this simulation, the energy model was enabled because the compressible flow solver (density-based) is applied to account for high-speed airflow effects. The results include contours of velocity, pressure, and temperature at different inlet Mach numbers. The velocity vectors reveal vortex formation and flow separation behind the body, where turbulence is significantly higher compared to other regions of the computational domain. This project demonstrates how CFD analysis can be used to accurately predict drag forces and understand flow separation phenomena in aerodynamic testing environments. 🔹 Software used: ANSYS Fluent, ANSYS Meshing, ANSYS Design Modeler 🔹 Physics involved: Compressible flow, turbulent wake formation, aerodynamic drag analysis 🔹 Applications: Aerodynamics, aerospace engineering, CFD training
