Automatic Flagger Assistance Devices (AFADs), also known as auto-flaggers, are portable traffic control devices. They allow road crews to control the flow of traffic through work zones remotely, without putting flaggers in harm's way. This video showcases a Minnesota Department of Transportation pilot project to deploy AFADs for use by MnDOT district maintenence personnel.
