Affinity Designer Mini Tutorial - working with the XOR compound
I am a big fan of compounds in Affinity Designer. They are a quick and fully editable way to combine shapes to make complex elements. In this video, I will show you how to use the XOR. XOR [exclusive or] is probably the most complex, least used, and underrated of the Boolean operations. It combines the shapes and calculates the overlay to determine fill or transparency. Even numbers in the layer overlay show transparency, while odd ones show the fill. It can be quite useful [and very surprising at times] when working on logos, icons, or patterns... and it's a lot of fun! Most of the functionality shown in the video can be created with other software tools such as Adobe's Illustrator, CorelDraw, or Inkscape with minor alterations and different names for the tools used.
