Affirmation Day 2019

Aspiring youth lifesavers were officially inducted into the National Civil Defence Cadet Corps (NCDCC) at the NCDCC Affirmation Day held on 13th July 2019 at Heartbeat@Bedok. This is the second time in which this annual event is held in public to bring the experience closer to the community. The NCDCC Affirmation Day is part of the year-long activities to commemorate 150 years of civil defence volunteerism in Singapore in 2019. It also marks the start of the journey for these Secondary 1 cadets in becoming active & concerned citizens with lifesaving skills - the identity of the NCDCC cadets. At the upper secondary level, they will further hone their civil defence skills by going through one of the three cadet specialist tracks - namely Fire Safety, Medical Response and Urban Search and Rescue. Besides being civil defence ambassadors in imparting their lifesaving knowledge and skills to the community, they are also our young #CommunityFirstResponders rendering assistance to those in distress. Mr Amrin Amin, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Health, officiated the event which saw more than 460 new NCDCC cadets being sworn in, witnessed by some of their proud parents and their family members.
