Super Typhoon Sinlaku was an exceptionally powerful Category 5-equivalent storm that struck the Mariana Islands in mid-April 2026. It peaked with maximum sustained winds of 185 mph (295 km/h) and a minimum central pressure of 890 hPa, making it the strongest tropical cyclone globally for the first half of 2026. The storm caused significant destruction on Saipan and Tinian, where it made landfall on April 14 as a Category 4 typhoon.
