Why is ageism still one of the last socially accepted forms of discrimination? In this video, we talk about ageism and the impact it has on people over 60, in workplaces, online, in media and in everyday conversations. This discussion was inspired by the negative social media comments directed at Louise Arbour, who was appointed as Canada's next Governor General. These comments were directed at Ms. Arbour's age rathen than her experience and accomplishments. Too often older adults are dismissed, underestimated, or made to feel invisible simply because of a number.
