AGRIVOLVING PROGRAM AND BEEBLESS PROGRAM - TAGUM CITY
Agrivolving Program is a strategy used by the City Agriculture Office to help the Farmers and their farmers association to be independent, self-sufficient, and sustainable in their farming operations. It involves providing grants in in-kind assistance in the form of farm inputs to their respective farmer's associations. The Farmer Associations will then release these farm inputs to their farmer member and at the end of the cropping season, the farmers will pay a minimal amount to their farmer's association. By regularly and consistently doing this concept, the period, the own Agrivolving funds of the respective associations will increase and will help in the financing of farming operations for their respective farmer members. The general objective of this strategy is TO FREE the farmers from the bond of traditional financing schemes and EMPOWER them through STRENGTHENING farmer groups towards SELF-RELIANCE and INDEPENDENCE. The Bee BLESS Program aims to promote the beekeeping industry as the key to food security, profitable alternative livelihood and transfer relevant knowledge and appropriate technologies for honey beekeeping and acquaint trainees with the different beekeeping operations, specifically: 1. To promote Apiculture in Tagum City through Bee Farm visits and sponsorship of venues for different events to promote the Apiculture Industry to encourage Tagumenyos to protect and conserve the environment; 2. To capacitate and develop skills of interested Tagumenyos, especially those marginalized, through training to transfer basic and relevant information and technology needed in beekeeping operation and management; 3. To provide technical assistance to training beneficiaries to engage in beekeeping; and 4. To promote beekeeping as a profitable alternative livelihood by promoting honeybee products and by-products in regional trade fairs.
