AI Accidental (2023).

AI has flooded into the public space, with many benefits, but also many potential issues. It's a set of tools that are advancing at a rate faster than any other technology. This film explores AI through a story that is from the future - or is it? Artists, philosophers, storytellers, and all of us need to be part of this conversation so that we shape the future we want to live in. This project started as a "what if" question for an online class in storytelling and animation that is taught by Pixar artists as well as people from other studios. The reek is a rough cut turned in at the end of seven weeks of character development, story development (and a major rewrite), animation using AI tools from Runway ML, Leonardo.AI and MyHeritage.com. The creative process starts with the story, moves to 2D AI-art, then uses a variety of techniques to add movement to each frame. Some of the animation is subtle to give the environment a specific feel without distracting from the story arc.
