AI Powered Smart Banking

CityU BBAIS students use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to transform mobile banking. Most of today’s mobile applications present data and information on the screen of smartphones and often require users to use more than 4 to 5 tabs to complete a specific task. What if we go back to the basics of human communications? In collaboration with a global bank’s innovation lab in Hong Kong, we have made use of natural language processing and also cognitive systems to create a smart banking assistant for their mobile application. One challenge of this project is to teach the banking assistant to recognize Cantonese. CityU IS department has collaborated with BOCHK-Cyberport Innovation Studio to launch a FinTech Talent Training Program in 2017. The purpose of this program is to give students the opportunity to apply what they have learnt at school to real business problems as part of a consulting project. BOCHK and/or Cyberport companies will specify the requirements of the project. Students will work in a team on a part-time basis under the supervision of a faculty member and deliver the work product within one or two semesters.
