Most of us container gardeners know the benefits of air pruning and the idea behind air pruning. As the roots hit the outer wall of a pot with holes and hit dry air, it will "prune" the roots thus inducing more root growth. More roots = more surface area for nutrient and water take up = bigger, healthier plant in a small container.
