How to make smoother cuts in mask making. NOTES: 1) This video example uses a very thin acetate. I recommend a .003 or .005 thickness because it holds its shape better. For thin masking material, including paper masks, a low-tack spray fixative is necessary to hold the mask firmly in place. 2) The way to avoid the spray adhesive from picking up the paint and paper, or from transferring on to your artwork - is to only use as little adhesive as needed and use your airbrush to spray just air to dry the adhesive to the point where it is only tacky enough to hold the stencil down. PRO TIP: do not leave the stencil on any longer than for immediate spraying. Leaving the stencil on longer gives the adhesive more of a chance to attach to the point where it pulls of the paint/paper.
