Welcome to our interview with the U.S.-based metal duo, AITTALA (pronounced “EYE-tah-la”)! AITTALA, formed by guitarist/vocalist Eric Aittala and featuring powerhouse drummer Gary “Zeus” Smith, is known for their boundary-defying sound. They weave together elements of traditional metal, doom, groove, and progressive styles into an experience that is both technically sharp and emotionally resonant. The band is celebrating the release of their second EP of 2025, "Ill-Gotten Gains," dropping November 21st via Exitus Stratagem Records. This EP pushes their songwriting complexity and lyrical vulnerability, exploring themes of exploitation, chaos, and the search for redemption.
