A large AIX server might have 1000’s of processes running = far to many to monitor individually. A large server many be running a dozen workloads - each with many processes. Workload examples: RDBMS*, batch jobs, data transfer, exporting files/reports, user applications*, security tools, backup and more. * = many With WLM processes are placed in classes, which can then be monitored & controlled (optional). Classifying processes is easy: user name, user group, program name or manually with the wlmassign command. Want more information?
