The larvae of some species of Green Lacewings have a unique strategy of covering their bodies with material from plants and/or insect carcasses. The larvae that do this are known as Trash Bugs or Junk Bugs. They're considered beneficial insects because they feed on common plant pests like aphids and mealybugs. They're also known to be cannibals. Watch macro video of Trash Bugs as they cover themselves with debris, devour aphids, and hatch from eggs laid on the tips of individual slender strands.
