When I first became a senior developer, I didn't realize skills from the consulting industry would have really helped me.
I had heard a lot of bad things about the consulting industry - some of which were definitely true.
But then I read Flawless Consulting by Peter Block, and over the next 5 years I began to realize why it was so hard to convince other developers and management to support my ideas.
I believe the industry isn't doing enough to teach developers these skills, so I'm trying to find a way to do this online.
The hard part is everyone's situation is different, and I don't want to mislead developers by making them think a simple book or course is all it takes to learn this stuff.
In this video, I share some things you might consider if you're trying to get promoted to a more senior role, and my current ideas for offering this help to more people.
