Windows 3.1 , 3.11 Workgroups use ding.wav as error sounds (Since these version of Windows don’t have chord.wav and tada.wav) Windows NT 3.1 don’t have any sounds until build 297 (although Windows 3.0 MME sounds is present) Windows 98 uses Windows 3.1 error sounds until build 1602 Windows NT 5.0 uses windows 3.1 error sounds until build 1848 The Worldwide "Longhorn" sounds are made by Samsung and never being used in any builds of Windows Longhorn.
