Alligator Hop was recorded in 1923 by King Oliver and his Creole Jazz Band.
King Oliver moved from New Orleans to Chicago and started his Creole Jazz Band initially finding work with colleagues from New Orleans, such as clarinetist Lawrence Duhé, bassist Bill Johnson, trombonist Roy Palmer, and drummer Paul Barbarin.
