This video covers the five most common types of allusions: 1. Biblical 2. Historical 3. Literary 4. Mythological 5. Literary This video gives an example for each. It explains how to identify some allusions with which you may not be familiar based on clues, and it also explains how sometimes we can miss allusions due to our background knowledge. Then, it explains the functions of allusions and why speakers and writers use them.
